Will Abstract
- Philip Potter's Will
- I Philip Potter of the County of Rockbridge and State of Virginia do hereby make my last will and testament in manner and form following, viz.
- 1st-- all my just debts be paid out of my personal estate.
- 2nd-- I give and bequeath unto my son David all my la[nd] except twenty acres of the end where Cambell now lives to him and his heirs forever.
- 3rd-- I give and bequeath to my Daughter Sophy Mais as children the above mentioned twenty acres of land to them and their heirs forever to begin at a trough on the south east side of the branch and to run with the preasant fence so as to make the above quantity.
- 4th-- I give and bequeath to my wife Katrine all my personal property and that my son David pay my said wife eight Bushels wheat and twenty too Bushels of Corn and hay for one cow annually so long as she lives.
- 5th-- My will is that my son David pay unto my son Isaac twenty five Dollars curat money of Virginia which I owe him at my decease.
- Lastly-- I do hereby appoint John Stuart executor of this my last will and testament hereby revoking all former wills by me heretofore made.

- Signed sealed published and declared as the last will and testament of the above named Philip Potter in the presence of us:

- Rockbridge County Court June 30, 1834
- The last will and testament of Philip Potter deceased was produced in Court, proved by oath of John Mckenry, a subscribing witness. Katharine Potter the widow appeared in Court and refused to take the provision made for her.
- Rockbridge County Court 4 August 1834
- John Stuart executor named in the last will and testament of Philip Potter decd. appeared in Court and refused to execute.
- Court continued August [__]
- The last will and testament of Philip Potter decd. was further proved by the oaths of David Rush and Alexander Stuart subscribing witnesses thereto and ordered to be recorded.
