11 Dec 1820: Phila Benson a minor above the age of Fourteen, Daughter of Deac. John Benson late of Mendon deceased made choice of Jared Benson Gentleman of Mendon to be my guardian.
↑Source:General Society of Mayflower Descendants. Mayflower Families through Five Generations, Vol. 20, Part 1, p. 159, identifies Phila as a daughter of first wife Joanna. Not only is there not enough time before Joanna's death for this to happen, she would then not have been a minor in 1820. That she, not her guardian, signed an assent for herself in 1823 indicates that she was barely a minor in 1820 and based on Thankful's birth in 1799 was probably born about 1802-1803 to fit all these conditions.
