Peter Troutman and his second wife, Catherine Spurgeon(Spurgin) migrated to Indiana in 1810 from Henry County, Kentucky to Tiptonia (Columbus), Bartholomew County. After the death of Catherine in 1820, Peter remarried three ( 3 ) more times prior to his death in April 1836. It is understood Peter Troutman was buried in the family cemetery on the property just southwest of Columbus, but was lost as the river nearby changed course a few times and the burial site disappeared.
