There is this sentence in the family account of Dr. Charles L. Minor in 1852 : "Doodes Minor's son Peter was apprenticed by his mother, Mrs. Elizabeth Cocke, née Minor, to a Boston ship captain, John Phillips, in 1697, to learn the art and mystery of navigation, and afterwards ran away from his master, and never came home. A letter from him to his brother Garrett, written at Rotterdam (I think) was in possession of the second Garrett's son, Samuel O. Minor. I once made a copy of it." ...
