Peter (Cheney),3 (Peter,2 John,1) b. in Newbury Nov. 6,1663, m. in Watertown Oct. 7, 1691, Mary Holmes. … Peter Cheney was one of those valiant Newbury soldiers who 'served in the blockhouse' in defence against Indians in 1704, and received pay,—'allowance of 16 shillings and 5 pence,' for the same. … April 14, 1718, he signed a power of attorney for the settlement of the estate of his uncle, Rev. Nicholas Noyes, in conjunction with brothers and sisters and cousins. This is the last record we have found relating to him."
