Griffin, Perry - Tuesday, W. A. Griffin Received a telegram from the War Dept. stating his son, Perry Franklin Griffin, was officially reported dead. He was Wounded in France on July 20th and died on July 22nd. A message was received last summer announcing that young Griffin had been wounded but for some reason his death was not announced until this week, although his father had witting many letters of inquiry to the government. Perry Griffin was a Sulphur springs boy, and at the age of eighteen joined the National Army at San Antonio. He went across with General Pershing and did valiant service for his country until his death. His death was a shock to his many friends here as it has been hoped that he was still alive.
