April 1776 - Paul Shaver was ordered out as an Indian spy by Col. Warrick under Capt. Maxwell. He spied in Randolph Co from then until Nov 1776, 1777 volunteered as a private in a company of Virginia Militia under Capt. Stuart for defense of the Western Waters.
