Paul M. Lorson, 74, Hope, Kansas, died Thursday June 13, 2002 at his home. He was born Aug. 11, 1927 near Hope, Kansas the son of Thomas N. and Helena E. (Weishaar) Lorson. He grew to manhood in the community of his birth and attended the local schools and graduated from Hope High School with the class of 1947. On October 15, 1949 he was united in marriage with Theresa J. Kandt in Herington, Kansas. All their married life was spent in the Hope area. He was a farmer and electrician. He owned Lorson Electric Inc for thirty-five years and manufactured Handy-Dandy Welders. He was a member of St. Phillip's Catholic Church, Hope, the Knights of Columbus, and a member of the Missionary of Charity Fathers. He is survived by his wife Theresa, of the home, three sons, Phillip A. Lorson, Hope, Eric S. Lorson, Salina, Kansas, and Barry P. Lorson, Emporia, Kansas, five daughters, Rita A. Sutcliffe, Topeka, Kansas, Sheila F. Mai, Wichita, Kansas, Denise J. Sageser, Wichita, Kansas, Diana L. Okruhlik, Topeka, Kansas, and Maria L. Harmon Lenexa, Kansas. Also surviving are 16 grandchildren, 5 step grandchildren, 2 great grandchildren and three brothers, Anthony P. Lorson and Vincent M. Lorson of Hope, and Loren A. Lorson of Overland Park, Kansas. His parents and infant brother and sister preceded him in death. Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:00 AM Monday, June 17, 2002 at the St. Phillip's Catholic Church, Hope with Father Mark Wesely officiating. Burial will be in the St. Phillip's Cemetery, Hope, Kansas. A Rosary service will be held at 7:00 PM Sunday evening ath the Carlson-Becker Funeral Home, Hope. Friends mya call at the funeral home until time of services. The family of Paul Lorson suggest that memorial contributions in his name to the St. Phillip's Cemetery Fund or to the Catholic Charities. Memorials may be left at the funeral home.
