According to the West Virginia Marriages Index, 1785-1971, Owen married Elizabeth Eagan on 4 Feb 1813. "Virginia Marriages 1740-1850" advises they married on 2 Feb 1813. The family grew to include the following children, all born in (West) Virginia: John Eagan, Philip R., Harvey, Elijah, Hannah, Virginia, Franklin Knox and Mary E. Ellis. Although the family has seen mention of two other children, Thomas and Elizabeth E., we've found no definitive proof of their lives.

NOTE (per Jim Stout, Green Hills Pioneers): About the time that Virginia seceded from the union, several counties in western Virginia seceded from Virginia, forming the new Union state of West Virginia. Therefore, in 1813, Monroe County was in Virginia, not West Virginia. All professional genealogists insist on accurately identifying these locations. (However, using the above format, I am unable to stipulate Monroe County in the state of Virginia.)

In 1838, the family moved to Missouri, arriving in Daviess County in November of that same year. In about 1841, Owen moved his family to Virginia Ridge. He was able to file his claim on this land in 1843, after Daviess County was incorporated. Elizabeth died on 30 Sept 1868. According to "Missouri Marriage Records 1805-2002", on 14 Oct 1869, Owen married Catharine Taylor in Benton Township, Daviess County, Missouri. The 1870 Missouri Census lists Owen as a farmer, age 76, and his wife Catharine, age 60, who was born in Kentucky. Owen died at 78y 1m 19d.
