    The Rev. Ottis P. Deel, 86, Huntingburg, died Wednesday, May 12, 2010, at 8 a.m. at his home.

    Born April 7, 1924, in Birdseye, he was the son of the late John and Irene Dillard Deel.

    He was an Army veteran of World War II and the Korean War, became an ordained minister in August 1960, retired from Mulzer's Crushed Stone's Poseyville Yard in 1987 and was a member of Highfill General Baptist Church.

    He was preceded in death by two brothers, Ernest and Howard Deel, and three sisters, Amanda Atkins, Nova Verpleaste and Nellie Williams.

    Survivors include his wife of 63 years, the former Ethel Evelin Speedy; a daughter, Mary Ann Enlow of Huntingburg; a sister, Mary Snelling of Wickliffe, Ind.; two grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; and a great-great-grandson.

    Visitation: Friday, May 14, from 2 to 8 p.m. at Nass & Son Funeral Home in Huntingburg.

    Funeral: Saturday, May 15, at 11 a.m. at the funeral home with burial in Wickliffe Cemetery. The VFW Post 2366 Memorial Detail conducted military graveside rites.

    Officiants: Bob Borden and Harold Bayer.

    The family suggests memorial gifts to Affinity Hospice.
