"A WELL KNOWN RESIDENT DIES A well known and respected resident of Simonds, Oscar Lebaron SHAW passed away on Monday at the Carleton Memorial Hospital in Woodstock after a few days illness. He was 81. The deceased and Mrs. SHAW had celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary on Christmas Day. Besides his wife, the former Laura ORSER, Mr. SHAW is survived by seven children. They are: Mrs. Clement VICK (Mary) of Campbellton; Mrs. J.M. YOUNG (Christine) of Simonds; Mrs. Reid DOWNEY (Mildred) of Simonds; Allen SHAW of Saklota, Africa; Archie SHAW of Simonds; Lorne SHAW of Ottawa. Another daughter, Ruth died in 1950. There is also one sister, Mrs. Lorne CURTIS of Bristol and 20 grandchildren. Mr. and Mrs. SHAW had been married at the home of Mrs. SHAW's parents Mr. and Mrs. Odbur ORSER of Windsor, 50 years ago. Dec. 25, 1913 The funeral was held on Wednesday afternoon at 2:30 from the Advent Christian Church of Simonds, with Rev. David CROOK, the pastor, officiating. Interment was made in the Greenwood cemetery at Hartland. Lorne Britton was the mortician in charge." References
