Orville D. Carlisle was baptized a member of the Reorganized Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints on 30 September 1894 at Buchanan, Berrien, Michigan, by John Shook. He was confirmed by E. J. Goodenough and John Most. He attended scattered branches in Michigan, including the Buchanan Branch.
