Opal Lucille Burke, 89, died Tuesday, March 2, 2004, in Halton City, Texas. Funeral will be 10 a.m. Friday at the Drawing Room of Thompson’s Harveson & Cole Funeral Home in Fort Worth, Texas, with the Rev. Chuck Nelson officiating. Burial will be at Emerald Hills Memorial Park. Visitation from 5 to 7 p.m. Thursday at Thompson’s Harveson & Cole Funeral Home. Opal Lucille Burke was born July 13, 1914, in Center Ridge, Ark. She was a member of Browning Heights Presbyterian Church and The Old Hen’s Eight-four Club. A lifelong church goer and true blue Demorcrat, a loving, caring devoted mother, grandmother, and friend to all. She will be remembered as one who met life’s problems with courage and achievement. She was the widow of Mack N. Burke Sr. Survivors are her children, Wanda Bell and her husband, Bob, Shirley Griffin and her husband, Jimmy, Mack N. Burke Jr. and his wife, Byra, Joe Burke and his wife, Kaye; nine grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; five great-great-grandchildren; a sister, Floye Redding; a sister-in-law, Irene Harvey; and nieces and nephews.
