Bio: Cherokee name was U-li-s-ka-s-di and was also known by the name Rufas Sixkiller and Old Soldier.

He was born in Cherokee Nation East (Georgia), the son of Oo-ka-wor-dar and Wah-le-yah.

He came to Goingsnake District -- present day eastern Oklahoma -- in the 1830s and was elected councilor representing the district in 1843, 1845, 1847, 1849, 1851 and 1853.

In 1844, he was named President of the Goingsnake District Temperance Society according to the September 1, 1844 Cherokee Messenger.

Sixkiller married Gu-er-tsa Smith, who was the daughter of Cabin Smith and Jennie (?). Gu-er-tsa (or Quatsey, Quaitie) is the Cherokee version of Betsy.

It's believed Sixkiller and Gu-er-tsa had at least nine children, including Blackhaw, Delaware, Susan, Cricket, Redbird, Anderson 'Peach-Eater', Lucinda, Frog, Soldier and Tail.

He later married a woman named Sallie, who was the daughter of Dah-kee. She was born in 1807 in Cherokee Nation East and died September 10, 1897 and buried in Lacie Cemetery, Goingsnake District, Indian Territory.

According to Sallie's widow claim (following a second marriage to John Walker), Soldier and Abraham Sixkiller gave sworn statements that prior to her marriage to Walker, she had been marrried to Chicasaw Sixkiller, who died on October 10, 1856.
