- grew up living with his father in East Cambridge at Capitol Hill
- went to school in Indianapolis where he studied law and got his law degree
- worked a short time in a law firm and then in a commercial business in Indianapolis
- became Postmaster in Cambridge City
- bought the "James Rariden house" at 220 West Main Street in Cambridge City, which he rented out and eventually lived in with his wife
- Member of Cambridge City Business Men's Association - see photo
- was quite musical and would sing solos at church and special events
- member of the Baptist Church
- responsible for the cherry tree orchard in East Cambridge City, IN, where he planted 150 trees supplied by Garr’s nursery
- moved to Canada, then back to the US, eventually settling in San Diego, CA
- medium build, brown hair and blue eyes
