    "44 Oliver Newcomb5 (Benjamin,4 Simon,3 Andrew,2 Andrew1), b. about 1750 in Kent or Lebanon, Ct, cooper; removed with his parents to Cornwallis, N. S., 1760, where he m. Dec. 15, 1773, Mary Anne Mahegan, dau. of William and Eleanor. He was a pay sergt. in the British army in the Revolutionary War; in 1782 he left the service, and removed same year from Cornwallis to Shoal Bay, Ship Harbor, Halifax Co., eastern shore of N. S. His last years were spent with his son, William B. He d. about 1821 at Pope's Harbor, ae. 80. Most of his descendants have been, or are at present, engaged in the fisheries, and live in the vicinity at places known as Ship Harbor, Shoal Bay, Popes Harbor, Taylors head, Spry Bay, Sheet Harbor, Gedore and Tangier."
