From the will of her son Middle John: 'To my aunt Hubbard [footnote: Probably sister to his mother Olive and her maiden name.] the house and lands that she now occupieth for her life, and after, to Robert, my son.'

This appears to be the basis for assigning the surname "Hubbard" to Sir John Wright's wife Olive. Other interpretations are possible, of course, since "Hubbard" could have been the married name of an aunt on either side of the family, although the terms of the will imply that she had no children of her own, and thus might not have been married.

Note that the Ancestral File not only identifies her as Olive Hubbard, but provides a christening date (22 Feb 1487) and parents. This information is assumed to be a fabrication for 2 reasons (besides the improbability of finding such early parish records):
    1) the christening place is identified as Dagenham, probably based on the association of the Wright family with Dagenhams Manor, but the family did not own Dagenhams Manor until some time after 1555 (History of the County of Essex, 2:432)
    2) the Ancestral File has fabricated christening dates for her children (see notes on the citations for Olive's marriage)

  3. Birth year estimated based on estimated birth years of her children, and under the assumption that the christening date given in the Ancestral File is a fabrication.
