"Obadiah² (Smith) (Edward¹), b. Feb. 5. 1676-7; … He was sergeant and afterward captain, 1719, of the Trainband, and in 1704 constable of Norwich. The history of Franklin, published in 1869, says his house was where Edmund A. Allyn now resides on the road to Lebanon Hill. He was one of the petitioners for the organization of the new society in West Farms or Franklin as now known. He d. 1727."
