Obadiah1 Miller, born in England, ____ died probably at Springfield, Mass., between 8 Mar. 1697/8 and 14 Mar. 1698/9; … Obadiah settled in Springfield about four years later than Thomas, and was granted a homelot of three acres in June 1654. He received additional land in 1655/6, 1660/1, 1664, 1664/5, 1665/6, 1666, 1668/9, 1672. His son was still called 'junior' on 8 Mar. 1697/8, when appointed a tything man, but no distinction was made 14 Mar. 1698/9 when one Obadiah was chosen a surveyor of highways, nor in later references, as for example when Obadiah Miller, undoubtedly the son, was chosen Constable, 14 Mar. 1709/10."
