    Rev. Noadiah, only son of William and Sarah (Davis) Russell, b. New Haven, Ct. July 22, 1659. He graduated Harvard Coll. 1681; and was a tutor there. He was one of the founders of Yale Coll.; and one of the framers of the Saybrook Platform. He succeeded the Rev. Nathaniel Collins, as the second minister at Middletown. The records of First Church, Middletown, show that, on Oct. 24, 1688, "Noadiah Russell─being formally invited and elected by ye general vote of Church and Town to a settlement among them in ye work of ye ministry─was at ye desire of ye church ordained a Pastor to ye said church in Middletown, by the Revernd Mr. John Whiting and Mr. Samuel Hooker; the rest of ye elders and messengers then present approving thereof. Being admittd a member by a Lettr from ye Church in Ipswich the Sabbath before." He served the Church as minister until his death.
