Nicholas Arthur "Nick" Zeyen, 48, of Tiffin, died Friday morning, July 27, 2007, at his home. On Oct. 21, 1958, he was born in Fostoria to Richard and Elizabeth (Park) Zeyen, and they survive in Fostoria. On Nov. 30, 1979, he married Beth Beeson. Nick truly was devoted to his wife, Beth, and honored their 27 years of marriage. Nick loved his two daughters, Katie Slosser of Tiffin and Natalie Martin of Westerville, more than life itself. He was the proudest dad in the world. He could tell anyone who asked (and even those who didn't ask) what the different swim strokes and events were in a swim meet and knew all the jumps and mounts needed to compete at a cheerleading competition. He truly loved his two "sons," Eric Slosser and Matt Martin, and when they were together, the conversation always revolved around football. Nick was so excited when he found out he was going to be a grandpa. Kinsey Elizabeth Slosser has been a true blessing and a highlight in his life. Other survivors include three brothers, Richard (Diane) Zeyen of Findlay, Andy Zeyen of Fostoria and Adam (Holly) Zeyen of Vandalia; two sisters, Beth (Phil) Downey of Sandusky and Amy (Scott) Kuhlman of Findlay; many nieces and nephews; and his dogs, Grace and Maggie. Nick was known for being "Bob Villa." All he needed was an idea for a project and he could design and build it. He had a true love of the outdoors, with his favorite pastime being camping, golfing, mowing or riding his bike with friends over the bike trails of Ohio. Nick was one of the biggest fans of the Cleveland Browns (particularly Bernie Kosar), the Ohio State Buckeyes and Columbian football, where he was a member of the Chain Gang. Nick was a very spiritual person. His belief in God and a higher power was very personal. His daily morning devotions consisted of reading about accepting life's challenges, never holding resentments and living life with hope, serenity and courage. He graduated in 1977 from St. Wendelin High School, Fostoria. He managed Big Bear Muffler in Fostoria and Tiffin, worked 15 years at National Machinery as a welder/fabricator and was a member of Redeemer Lutheran Church. Private funeral services were held for the family and burial was in Greenlawn Cemetery, Tiffin. Nick's family is inviting his friends and family to join them 5-8 p.m. Tuesday, July 31, 2007, for a celebration of life to be held on the grounds at Redeemer Lutheran Church, 2467 S. SR 231, Tiffin, (419) 447-7794. This celebration will be held as an open house beginning at 5 p.m. Dress attire is casual, with Cleveland Browns, Columbian or Ohio State clothing being appropriate. A small luncheon will be served. Memorial contributions may be made to Redeemer Lutheran Church, Community Hospice Care or F.A.C.T. Hoffmann-Gottfried Mack Funeral Home (419) 447-2424 assisted the family with arrangements.
