Needham, Mr. Nicholas, Exeter, had been a prop. of Braintree in 1636, came to Exeter with Rev. John Wheelwright, signed the comb. in 1639 and was one of the 'rulers' of the settlement until his resignation 20 Oct. 1642. Moderator. With Wheelwright's group he negotiated with Capt. Thos. Gorges for land in Wells in 1641. John Legate's depo. made in 1652 (Norf. D. 1. 46) that he helped N. N. make bolts for Henry Roby(1) in Piscataqua Great Bay 10 yrs. since and that Roby sued Ann Needham, app. over this bus., in Salem ct. 8 or 9 yrs. ago, would seem to give the date of his death and the name of his wid.
