From the Salt River Primitive Baptist Church minutes: "July, 1802 — Bro. Nicholas Leathers has wounded the cause of God by immoral conduct, Bro. Boggess cited him to attend, he refusing is excluded."

No. 40. I, Nicholas Leathers of the County of Anderson and State of Kentucky, being now diseased in body but sound in mind and of disposing memory, and knowing it appointed to man and to ___ ____ order to meet that w____, dispose of my Earthly goods, _____ which it hath pleased Almighty God to ____p___d in the following manner and ____ ______: Item 1st: I will that after my death all my just debts to be paid. Item 2nd: I will and bequeath to my beloved Wife Fanny Leathers, during her Natural Life or her Widowhood, all my estate of every description of which I may die possessed, but if she should marry then she is to have her thirds. Item 3rd: And after the death of my said Wife, I will all my lands to my son Alfred Leathers and his heirs forever, together with all my farming utensils, and one-half of all the Stock that may be on hand at the death of my said Wife. Item 4th: The remainder of my estate not otherwise disposed of, I will to the rest of my children and their heirs to be Equally divided among them. Item 5th: I appoint my son John Leathers Executor to this my last Will and Testament hereby forsaking all others heretofore made. State of Kentucky, Anderson County I, Jordan H. Walker, Clerk of the County Court for the County aforesaid, do certify that at a County Court held for the County aforesaid, at the Court House in the Town of Lawrenceburg, on Monday the 11th day of June 1838, this _____ing preparatory to ___ the Last Will and Testament of Nicholas Leathers, dec., was produced in Court and proven by the Oaths of John Buny and Jeremiah Anderson, the two subscribing witnesses thereto, to be the act and deed of the said Nicholas Leathers, whereupon the said writing together with this certificant, hath been duly admitted to Record in my Office, being under my hand the 13th day of June 1838.
