The will of Nicholas George, dated June 24, 1779 and proved in Fauquier County, VA on September 27, 1779, left livestock to his daughter Nanny [sic], otherwise known as Nancy, married to George Lowry. This is confirmed by a deed of gift in which George and Nancy Lowry returned the livestock to Margaret George, who is referred to as George Lowry's mother-in-law. I have not located a marriage record for George Lowry and Nancy George, however. Other records suggest that George Lowry had sons named William George Lowry and Joseph Lowry. I suspect that the Elizabeth Lowry who married Samuel Cave in 1793 and the Nancy Lowry who married George Britt in 1808 were his daughters since he is listed as bondsmen on their marriage bonds.
