- Nicholas Friday, 1789 Will
- In the Name of God, Amen. I Nicholas Friday of the County of Lincoln and State of North Carolina being of Sound and perfect Mind and Memory Blessed be God for the Same Do this 24th day of April in the year of Our Lord 1789, Make and Ordain Constitute and Appoint this to be my Last Will and Testament In Manner and form following:
- First I give twenty Shillings unto the poor of this County and Also forty Shillings towards building the Lincolnton Meeting House.
- Item. I also Give and bequeath [blurred three words] My well beloved Wife one Hundred and forty Acres of Land Lying on both Sides Clarks Creek Joining Anthony Holmans Land During her Life also the house Standing at the Spring where I now Live and Also the Still and Vessels thereunto belonging as Long as She lives on the premises and my son Jonas Friday is to find her twelve Bushels of wheat and ten Bushels of Corn three Hundred weight of pork and two hundred weight of beef one pound of Tea three pounds Coffee twenty five pounds of Sugar and Sow her yearly half an Acre of flax on good ground and to find her Six pound of wool During her life I Also give her a Negro wench Named Hariot and Negro Child Named Adam During her life and two Cows and Calves a Roan Horse Saddle and Bridle and my Son Jonas is to find food for the horse and Cattle During her Life or as Long as She Shall Live with him I also Give her a bed and Furniture and all the Money I have in hand and all the Debts Due to me by book Accounts Bonds or notes and all the Household furniture not hereafter Bequeathed
- Item I also Give and Bequeath unto my Son Jonas Friday the Tract of Land whereon I now live with all the improvements thereon and also the land Joining said Tract Lying on the North Side the South fork and also the half of Tract Joining of Lincolnton and also the Land bequeathed to my wife to be his property after her Decease and also one Negro fellow named Yamah and a New waggon and hind gears two Mares and two Colts one Set of plow Irons one Sorrel horse Saddle and Bridle one Iron harrow Two pair plow gears one wind Mill one hand Screw one Clock and Smooth Bore Gun a Bed and furniture
- Item I also Give and bequeath unto my Son Andrew Friday two Tracts of Land Lying on the South side South fork Joining my Son Jonas Land above bequeath[ed] and also I give unto my son Andrew Friday a Tract of Land on the waters of Clarks Creek Joining Land of Jacob Crosimer and also one half of the Tract of Land of one hundred acres joining Lincolnton and also one Negro Girl named Silvay and one Sorrel horse and one Mare and Mare Colt one Saddle and Bridle one Bed and Furniture one Set of plow Irons two pair of gears a Rifle Gun one Silver watch
- Item I Give and bequeath unto my Daughter Catharine Rudisail a Tract of Land of four Hundred Acres Lying on Howards Creek and Also one Negro Girl Named Sall and further it is my Desire that all my Cattle hogs tools and Sheep be Equally Divided between my two Sons Jonas and Andrew and I do Impower my Executors to make a Lawful title unto Philip Gansler for one half the tract Land wherein we are partners and Also to a tract Lying on little Shoal Creek to Make title unto Michael Costner when the patent is Received and Do make and Constitute and Appoint Mary Friday my wife and Martin Friday my Lawful Executors of this my Last Will and Testament and do hereby utterly Disallow Revoke and Disannul all and Every Other Testament Wills Legacies bequeaths and Executors by me any wise before Named willed and bequeathed. Ratifing and Confirming this to be my Last [Will] and Testament In Witness
