    NETTIE JANE SLIETER VATLAND, age 84, of Luverne, died Sunday, November 30, 2008, at the Sanford Hospice Cottage, in Luverne. She was born October 30, 1924, in Tuttle, OK, to Harry and Pearl (Kile) Copp. In 1928, Nettie moved with her family to Chickasha, OK. She worked at W & B Flying School and at the Canteen at Borden General Hospital. Nettie married Richard Slieter on January 1, 1946, in Chickasha, OK. In June of that year, the couple moved to Minnesota. On March 1, 1947, they began farming in Vienna Township, rural Rock County. They farmed near the Kenneth & Magnolia areas for over twenty six years until Richards?s death in August of 1973. She then moved to Luverne. Nettie married Anders Vatland on September 25, 1982, at the United Methodist Church, in Luverne. After their marriage, the couple lived in Luverne. Anders died in May of 2003. She was a member of the United Methodist Church, in Luverne; the Ladies Circle; and the Luverne VFW Ladies Auxiliary. She enjoyed bowling, canning, music, quilting, embroidery, watching the Minnesota Twins and working at the Cardinal Drive-In in the 1960?s. Nettie is survived by her five children and their spouses, Gina & Clint Trousil, Anoka; Richard Jr. & Carol Slieter, Baxter; Gayle & Randy Walgrave, Winnebago; Lynn & Dave Remme, Luverne; and Jill Slieter, Luverne; ten grandchildren, Becky (Kirk Wallace) Trousil, Jeff Trousil, Eric (Kristin) Slieter, Matt (Kelly) Slieter, Jamie Slieter, Mike Walgrave, Dave Walgrave, Steve Walgrave, Kristin Walgrave & Mark Remme; three great grandchildren, Morah, Ellie & Emily Slieter; and two sisters, Juanita Scheerer, El Cajon, CA; and Thelma Covey, Bethany, OK. She was preceded in death by her parents; two husbands; two brothers, Harry Jr. & Lloyd Copp; and a sister, Patricia Hill.
