Nellie Humphrey, 100, Sundance, Wyoming died Monday, January 27, 2003 at Kiewel's Guardian Angel Home in Belle Fourche, South Dakota. She was born August 5, 1902 one mile east of Sundance on the family home of William D. and Kate (Goodrich) Roadifer. She was one of 14 children. Nellie grew up on the Lower M.W. Ranch south of Newcastle, Wyoming when transportation was in the form of covered wagon. She also lived at Blacks Flat and Moskee areas of Wyoming.

In 1941 she married Osa Humphrey and was united in marriage to him until his death in 1972. They had a happy life together, enjoying whatever nature presented to them, namely the birds, flowers, seasons and animals. Even though she never had children of her own she treated all her siblings' children as if they were hers.

In 1974 Nellie started working as a Green Thumb Worker in Sundance until retiring at the age of 89. Nellie enjoyed helping others nd enjoyed working with her word books.

She is survived by one sister, Katherine, of Sheridan, Wyoming and numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband and brothers and sisters.

Graveside services will be held 11:00 a.m. Saturday, February 1, 2003 at Green Mountain Cemetery in Sundance with Reverend Ed Bollack officiating.
