DEATH CALLS MRS. M. HORN, of W. KELSO
Woman Whose First Home Here Was Tent Under Jefferson Square Oaks Dies Suddenly at Hospital
Nellie grace Colwell Horn, wife of Martin Horn, West Kelso, died suddenly Tuesday at the Kelso hospital.
The funeral services will be held at the Kelso Christian Church, Third and Pine streets, at 11 o'clock Thursday morning. Rev. F. Claude Stephens, former pastor of the Christian Church will officiate, assisted by Rev. Charles L. Thornton, present pastor. Interment will be at the I.O.O.F. cemetery, in charge of Van Note and Rider, undertakers.
Nellie Colwell was born August 7, 1879, in Howells, Nebraska. In 1903 she became the wife of Mart Horn. In 1909 they came and settled in Cowlitz valley, their first home being a tent house beneath the spreading oaks on the old Catlin farm at the spot where Jefferson Square is now located.
Mrs. Horn with her sunny disposition was loved by all who knew her. She leaves a host of loving friends in her church and fraternal circles, where she was an untiring and faithful worker. The community grieves today the loss of so good a friend and Christian neighbor.
Mrs. Horn was a member of the Christian Church of Kelso and took an active part in all church work. She was a past matron of the Kelso chapter of the Order of Eastern Star; a member of Trinity Shrine No. 10 of the White Star of Jerusalem and Chaplin of the Kelso Rebakahs.
Survivors include her husband, a son, Thomas C. Horn, five sisters, Mrs. Blanche Kennedy, Kelso; Mrs. Elsie Siler, Kelso; Mrs. Effie Wamsley, Fort Cobb, Oklahoma; Mrs. Zora Mee, Aberdeen, Washington; and Miss Colwell, Kelso, and a brother, Charles C. Colwell, Ross Fort, Montana.
