    MacNachtan, Col. Neil Ferguson -- Born Orono, Ont., Feb. 5, 1850, son of E. A. and Elizabeth (Renwick) MacNachtan. Educated: Cobourg Grammar School; Victoria University. Counties Clerk and Treasurer, United Counties Northumberland and Durham, Ont., since 1891; a trustee, Cobourg Collegiate Institute, 7 years; Author, "Guide for Duties of the Canadian Field Artillery" (highly commended by Lord Dundonald and issued by Canadian Artillery Association to the several Batteries in Dominion); holds the long service decoration, C.V.O., 1911; joined Cobourg Company Garrison Artillery, 1868; was in command of said Company for 10 years; promoted to command of the 14th Field Battery, 1901, and to command of 10th Brigade, C.F.A., 1906 (term extended to 1912); under his command of the C.C.G.A. and 14th F.B., these corps ranked highest in efficiency in the Dominion, winning Governor General's cups; for years these corps took highest marks for practice under his command; a Vice-President, Canadian Artillery Association; a Vice-President, Ontario Rifle Association; and has been President, Ontario Artillery Association; elected President, Dominion Artillery Association, 1910; commanded Canadian Artillery team, England, 1911; retired from Militia Service, Dec. 31, 1912. Married Jeanie Hervey Lawder, Whitby, Ont., (deceased 1909); 2ndly, Edith Isabel Radclyffe, daughter of late Thomas Radclffe, Birmingham, England. Presbyterian. Address: Cobourg, Ont.
