"6. Nehemiah3 (Smith) (Nehemiah2, Nehemiah1), b. Nov. 14, 1673; … He was townsman 1712-14. At the time of his death, which was a few years before that of his father, all of his twelve children were living except Dorothy. He was b. and always resided on the homestead farm near Smith lake, Poquonoc, Groton, Conn. He also owned land at 'Nowayanck.' This land, according to the original inventory of his estate, by an error in surveying comprised thirty acres more than actually existed. This error was afterward corrected and the land shows a valuation of about $12 an acre. By his will he gave £1648 2s. 10d. to the family, one-third to his wife, the balance equally among the eleven children, except to Nathan, the oldest son, who had received his full double share during his father's life-time. He d. Nov, 21, 1724, fifty-one years of age. (He and his wife) were both buried near his father and mother in the first burying ground at Poquonoc, and both removed to Smith Lake Cemetery, 1888."
