↑ There are two Nathaniel Johnsons of Haverhill: one born 1683, s/o Joseph and Hannah; another born 1691; s/o John and Lydia. One married about 1714 Ruth Guile, one married 1715 Mehitable Guile. Ancestors and Descendants of Robert Clements of Leicestershire and Warwickshire, England : First Settlers of Haverhill,, Vol. 1, p. 88, shows that s/o John and Lydia married Ruth Guild and this has been copied by several websites. This is incorrect. Essex deed Vol. 38, p. 103: 23 Nov 1719: Nathaniel Johnson of Haverhill inherited with his brothers land upon the death of his brother Jn'o Johnson late of Haverhill, his father Joseph had in his will gave him other lands and directed him to give his right in these lands to his eldest brother Joseph, and his brother Joseph wished to give this land to his own eldest son James Johnson, therefore Nathaniel and wife Ruth and Joseph and wife Hannah make and confirm this gift. Clearly, it was the s/o Joseph and Hannah who married Ruth.
