Gender Male
Christening[1] 1 Mar 1767 Knebworth, Hertfordshire, England
Marriage 24 Nov 1787 Welwyn, Hertfordshire, Englandto Catherine Hornet
Death[3] 1836

Nathaniel Haggar was baptised on 1st March 1767 at Knebworth in Hertfordshire, son of Newman and Elizabeth Haggar.

Nathaniel's next sighting is on 24th November 1787, in the neighbouring parish of Welwyn, aged 20, when he married Catherine Hornet. They went on to have five children together baptised at Welwyn between 1788 and 1798.

Nathaniel was a yeoman farmer. He is listed in polling lists from 1832 as renting land for £50 at Potter's Heath Farm in the parish of Welwyn.

Nathaniel wrote his will on 16th September 1836, and a codicil to it the next day. He left his estate to his wife Catherine for her lifetime, and after her death directed that £100 was to go to one of his granddaughters and the remainder to be split equally between his children. Nathaniel appears to have died shortly after writing his will, as the will was proved on 18th October 1836, although no burial record has been found for him. He was 69 years old. Catherine survived him by over five years.

Whilst no named connection has been found to confirm that the Nathaniel baptised in 1767 was the same person who married Catherine Hornet in 1787, and no burial has been found for him to give an implied age, this baptism is in the adjoining parish to that in which he married and at a plausible time.
