↑ Many of the sources that say Tabitha Howland married Nathaniel Carey do not identify him. NYGBR, Vol. 44, p. 16, somewhat far afield for a "Thacher-Thatcher Genealogy" (grandmother of Tabitha was a Thatcher), says: "Tabitha Howland m. 8 Dec 1733 Nathaniel Carey, "born Bristol, R.I., November 5th, 1711; died Bristol, December 11th, 1739; he was a son of Benjamin and Susannah (---) Carey, of Bristol, R.I." Child: Josiah, b 24 Feb 1738/29, d. 26 Jun 1739. The obvious elephant in the room is the death of the son of Benjamin and Susannah, 2 Dec 1711, at the age of 1 month. The mouse in the room is the name of the son, Josiah. Clearly this is wrong.
