Nathaniel [Blanchard] (twin), b. at Chelmsford 23 Sept. 1674; killed by the Indians at Dunstable 3 July 1706. … Nathaniel Blanchard and his wife, Lydia, his daughter Susannah, his mother Hannah, and her daughter by a former marriage, Elizabeth Kinsley Cummings, were killed by the Indians. A vivid account of this incident survives in the journal of the Rev. Jonathan Pike, a contemporary clergyman: "Capt. Person of Rowley marching with his troop to Dunstable, & being posted with part of his troop at one Blanchars house, while they were at supper in the Chamber, the enemy had slighly turned Blanchars sheep into his Corn, while he and his wife going out to restore, were both slain, the Doors and Gates being open, the enemy entered the house, killed Persons Trumpiter, with 3 other troopers, and wounded five more; at last they were driven out of ye house with the Loss of one Indian."
