Nathan Veitch's parents were James Veitch and Mary Gakerlin. Nathan was the most active and conspicuous of their sons. Nathan was the first of the Veitches to sign the Declaration of Loyalty, November 1689. He was the administrator of the estates of his deceased brothers James and John,1693-94. He was a Grand Juror of Prince George's County, 1696. As the white settlements extended inland the hostilities of the natives increased and certain murders committed by them on outlying plantations led the authorities of Prince Georges to appoint a commission of twenty-four jurors to appraise the situation and defenses and to report. Nathan died in May 1705. His death was indeed an untimely one, the immediate cause thereof is unknown. Nathan was about 37 years of age at the time of his death.
