"16. Nathan4 Post (Abraham3-2, Stephen1) was born at Saybrook 17 August 1707, and died at Westbrook 19 October 1802, aged 97 years (g.s.). … Nathan is listed as a private when the First Militia Company of Saybrook was divided in 1724 (Conn. Arch., Militia Papers, Ser. 1,1:254). According to a marker on his grave, he is the Nathan Post who had 16 days as a private under Capt. Nathaniel Johnson at the relief of Fort William Henry in 1757 (ibid., Colonial War, Ser. 1, 7:18a), although it seems more likely that it was his son who served. Nathan owned the covenant in the Westbrook Church (1717-18??), was admitted to communion, 7 March 1735/6, and was a member with wife Rebecca, 1757. He served in a number of Saybrook town offices. He was a tithingman for 1734, a highway surveyor for 1736, a grand juror for 1739, a fenceviewer for 1740, a highway surveyor for 1742, 1746, and 1753, and a tithingman for 1756 and 1759."
