"Nathan4 Northrup was born 30 May 1721 in Ridgefield, Fairfield County, Connecticut. He was a son of James3 Northrup (Joseph2-1) and James's first wife, Hannah3 (Hine) Northrup (Thomas2-1). His tombstone in South Salem, Westchester County, New York, records 'In Memory of Nathan Northrop, who died January 11 1804 in the 83 year of his age.' Nathan Northrup and his eleven children are treated briefly in the Northrup-Northrop Genealogy, a work compiled and published in 1908."
Hull concludes, based on church records and a tombstone, that Nathan Northrup had 3 wives, the first and third of which were both named Eunice. Nathan's wife Eunice is mentioned in church records both before and after Nathan's short marriage to Mary Loder, and the only other Nathan Northrup (son of Daniel) known to be in South Salem around the time of the marriage to Mary Loder died 26 May 1759 (tombstone inscription), survived by his wife Peregrina (1773 land deed record).
