Mrs. Richardson Dies at Age 76 at Home of Son
Wife of Former Kaukauna Photographer Buried Here; Body Brought from Illinois
Funeral services for Mrs. Meade Richardson, former Kaukauna resident for 49 years, who died at 1 o'clock Wednesday morning were held at 1 o'clock Thursday afternoon at the Greenwood Funeral home, with the Rev. L. F. Green in charge. Burial was made in the Evergreen Cemetery, Manitowoc.
Mrs. Richardson died at the home of her son, Elmer Richardson, Champaign, Illinois, at the age of 76 after a long illness. She was born Feb. 20, 1870 in Alabama. Her home was in Bermuda before her marriage to Mr. Richardson, who died in March, 1944.The last year she lived with her son, Elmer.
She is survived by two sons, Elmer of Champaign, and Clyde, Appleton; two sisters, Mrs. G. F. Glass Terrace, British Columbia, Mrs. Walter Dunscombe, Bermuda; one grandchild and one great granchild.
Pall bearers for the funeral were Henry Esler, Herbert Weckwerth, Joseph Winn and Joseph Gertz.
Mrs. Richardson is the wife of Meade Richardson, Kaukauna's only photographer for many years. Trained in the old school of glass plate photography and natural light, he operated a studio between the public library and the present offices of Drs. W. C. Sullivan and A. Kremers.
An Englishman by birth [sic, he was born in Wisconsin, his mother was English], he had traveled around the world a great deal and married Mrs. Richardson when he was in the photography business with his brother in Bermuda. In his studio he always kept a souvenir case of curios and shells from that island.
