Nancy Noel was a descendent of Cornelius Noel, a French Huguenot emigrant who settled at Manakin Town in 1700.Her father Thompson Noel, a tavern keeper at Scottsville, was killed in 1821 in one of Scottsville's most sensational murders.Thompson Noel was dragged from his home and bludgeoned to death by Robert Lewis, the son of one of Scottsville's oldest and most distinguished families.
