Margaret and her sister were taken prisoner by the Shawnee in Virginia and raised as Shawnees. As an adult Margaret returned to Virginia where she gave birth to Nancy. In 1804 Margaret returned to the Shawnees to reunite with Bluejacket and their son Joseph Moore Bluejacket. She was accompanied by their daughter Nancy, now married to James Stewart of Virginia and both women stayed with the Shawnee for most of their remaining lives.
