Death of Mrs. MacRae A feeling of gloom was cast over this section when it became known that Mrs. MacRae, widow of Duncan B. MacRae has passed away on Oct. 24. Deceased had been ailing for some time, but was able to be up and around the house until the Wednesday previous to her death, when she was taken ill with bronchial pneumonia. Although having suffered greatly, she bore her sufferings patiently, and passed peacefully away to her eternal rest and reward on Saturday evening. Deceased was 78 years of age and was born in Kintail, Scotland. She came to this country when quite young and has since resided in the Sixth Concession. She was of a calm, patient disposition. Her husband predeceased her by about nine years. The funeral service was held at the house on Monday by Rev. L. Benton of Moose Creek, who preached a very impressive sermon. Mrs. MacRae is survived by two daughters and a son - Mrs. Alexander MacIntosh, Avonmore; Mrs. Alex MacRae and Dan MacRae, Winnipeg, Manitoba; Alex MacRae, Duluth, Minn; James MacRae, Puce, Essex county, Ont; Duncan MacRae, Mimico; Farquhar MacRae of the Sixth Concession and Malcolm MacRae on the homestead. A large number of carriages followed the remains to the Sixth Concession cemetery, where interment took place. The pall-bearers were Alex MacIntosh, Daniel Blair, Hugh MacIntosh, William Stevenson, John Johnston and Farquhar Finlayson. Among those present from a distance were her two sons, James J. MacRae and Duncan MacRae. The sorrowing friends have the sympathy of the community.
