    Myra B. Maxwell, 86, 1526 17th Street, Bedford, died at 11:13 p.m. Friday at Dunn Memorial Hospital.

    Born June 25, 1922, in Rockport, she was the daughter of H.D. and Blanche (Lehman) Jackson. She married James Art Maxwell on Feb. 15, 1953, and he died in May of 1977.

    She was a graduate of Bedford High School with the class of 1940.

    She was a member of the First Christian Church in Bedford, where she had been a deaconess, Sunday School secretary for 50 years and Lydia Circle president; American Heart Association for 50 years, having served as president; Young Republicans; Church Women United; LIFE founding committee, and Parkview Elementary School PTA, having served as president. She had been a Republican precinct committee person.

    Survivors include one son, Jack Maxwell and wife Christie of Bedford; one daughter, Susan Lewis and husband Darren of Bedford; three granddaughters, Megan Maxwell, Ashley Maxwell and Maggie B. Lewis, all of Bedford; one great-grandson, James Evan Jett, Bedford; one sister, Phyllis Nikirk, Redkey; several nieces, nephews, cousins; and many dear friends.

    She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; one brother; one sister; and one granddaughter.

    Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday at the First Christian Church in Bedford with Pastor Bob Dailey officiating. Burial will be at the Owensburg Cemetery.
