From "They Came to Mara...", p. 182:
"Myles COSGROVE, his wife Ellen, and their young family were living in Brock Township as early as 1851 to 1861. On March 17, 1851, Myles Cosgrove, blacksmith of Brock, purchases 1 acre between lots 1 and 2, Concession 1, Brock Township. Two years later, Michael Malone and wife, Mary (Curtin), sold 2 acres at lot 1, Con 1, Brock to Myles Cosgrove, blacksmith, of Brock. By the time of the 1871 census, Myles, Ellen and their chilren were living in Scott Township; they were residents of Mara by 1881."
