According to the information emailed to me by Jo Martin (jomartin1@@worldnet.att.net), there is an oral history that says that Moses immigrated to the New World from Germany with his son John Valentine Vest. Another less trusted source (PWard@@the.express-news.net) states that Moses may have resided in Maryland at some point.

Another source alleges that Moses was actually born in "Caven" (possibly County Cavan), Ireland, then later moved to Germany, where his son may have been born. He (and possibly his son) later moved to Virginia.(S2, S3)
