Ventrus, Moses, Farmington. Invt. £113-05-06. Taken 13 November, 1721, by John Hart and Jonathan Smith. Will dated 10 August, 1721.

I, Moses Ventrus of Farmington, doe make this my last will and testament: I give to my cousin John Brunson, of Farmington, my lott at the ox pasture in Paquabuck meadow, and my three lotts in the 3 divisions furthest west from the Town, and also my gunn and my loft on the east side of the river, against Nodd. I give to my cousin Mehetabell Ventrus my land at the Fort Hill. It is further my will that in case Jacob Barnes do give a good maintenance unto the sd. Mehetabell Ventrus until her decease, then at her decease the the sd. Barnes is to have and hold all that by this instrument was given to her; otherwise to be the aforesd. John Brunson's, provided he the sd. Brunson doth maintain the sd. Mehetabell. I give unto my cousin Moses Brunson, the son of William, all my right in the land at the Blue Hills that is not laid out. I make my cousin John Brunson sole executor.

Page 159 - 5 December, 1721: Whereas, Moses Ventrus, late of Farmington, died intestate of estate to the value of £13-03-06, as appears by the will and invt., out of which has been paid debts due from sd. estate £2-14-02, there remains £10-09-04 to be dist. This Court order dist. to the heirs of Sarah Brunson decd., £3-09-09; also to the heirs of Grace Blackley decd., £3-09-09; and to the heir of Mary Ventrus, viz., Mehetabell Ventrus, £3-09-09. And appoint John Hart, Jonathan Smith and John Brunson, distributors.

   Moses Ventrous, b. 1654, bapt. 18 Feb. 1655, never married, d. 20 Sept. 1721 (Farmington, Conn., Vital Records).

4.   Strong suspicion that the minor, Samuel Ventrus, was son of this man's cousin Moses Ventrus. That Moses's sister Susanna was married to the second Daniel Brainerd/Brainard of Haddam. They were children of William Ventrus who was apparently brother of the first Moses Ventrus, father of this Moses. Also note that Savage says that this Moses died unmarried; also note that Samuel Ventrus was not mentioned in his will.
