"13 Moses5 (Lyman). We learn from Moses7 that his father, Phineas6 was a cousin of Col. David6, which makes Moses 5 a brother of John5 and son of Ebenezer4; we assume that he was the oldest child of Ebenezer4, Thomas3, Richard2, Richard1, 1707-1796."
There is a problem with the identification of this Moses as a son of Ebenezer and Experience (Pomeroy) Lyman in that there is not enough room prior to the birth of daughter Experience in 1708 for him to have been born prior to Experience. Further, the manner in which the family was recorded at Northampton does not lend itself to the suggestion that he was merely an unrecorded child.

"Samuel Parsons … will, dated 5 Sept. 1724, … names … my Loveing Grandsons Aaron & Moses Lyman Children of my Daughter Elizabeth; …"
Thomas and Elizabeth (Parsons) Lyman removed from Northampton to Durham at or near the time that her father, Lieutenant Samuel Parsons, removed. Two additional children of Thomas and Elizabeth, Elizabeth (bpt. 1713) and Thomas (bpt. 1715) are not named in the will and, since there is no record of the death of Elizabeth (Parsons) Lyman, could be children of a second unknown wife. The Lyman genealogy does not give Thomas and Elizabeth a son Moses, but one could have been born during the family's transisiton from Northampton to Durham without having either the birth or baptism recorded. This by no means proves Moses' parentage, but seems much more likely than Coleman's assertion that he was son of Ebenezer and Experience (Pomeroy) Lyman.
