    •Note:
!When his father Gillum became an outlaw, according to the novel "Dock Brown, Kentucky Outlaw", Moses was married and had a young son. After the murder of his father, Moses and his brother-in-law Nathan Frizzle appeared in Grayson County, Kentucky, to "check out" the supposed fortune that had belonged to his brother and father. Moses filed suit against Dock--or Gillum his brother--for an inheritance. Dock argued that he was not a Hopper, and was proven wrong. Frustrated, Dock shot Moses in the back, but the wound was not fatal.
Not long afterwards, in 1851, Moses moved his two families--yes! 2 families-- to Harrison, Arkansas. This was told by Marie Valentine and Pam Patterson. He had 9 children with his wife and 10 children with his girlfriend
Fannie Keef. It is said that Fannie may have lost a hand. Shortly after the death of his wife Rebecca, Moses was murdered at the hands of bushwhackers while eating breakfast at the cabin of Fanny. Evidently, he had been a union sympathizer in Southern Country. The Moses Hopper estate sale was held some time afterward--in 1869.
Archibald was the administrator. Moses' son Gillum bought a great deal of land from the estate. Through the generations, Moses' two families hated one another. Later, there apparently was intermarriage.
