    Moses was the husband of Elizabeth (Saunders) Hemminger Johnson (1841-1894) and father of at least five children including: Alice Esther, Theodore, Minnie, Anna Mary and Flora Ellen Hemminger and he was the stepfather of Lewis Albert Saunders and Edda May Saunders. Moses and Elizabeth were married on April 17, 1866 in Blackford County, Indiana. Moses was the son of George Hemminger and Rachel (Bisel) Hemminger. He was a private in the Union Army - 34th Indiana Infantry, Co. I, during the Civil War. He enlisted on Oct. 9, 1861 and was mustered out on Feb. 3, 1866. One of the major battles he fought in was Vicksburg. Moses died at age 36.
