Note that it is possible that Nancy was his step-mother, not his mother. According to the 1900 census and his death record, he was born before his father married Nancy. However, his birth date could be incorrect in both the 1900 census and his death record (which don't agree with each other). Alternately, he could have been born before his parents were married, while, say, an ailing spouse of one of them was still alive so they could not marry.
