Morgan was stationed in Vietnam as Deputy Commander of the USAF Hospital at Cam Ranh Bay for a year in 1968 and from there was sent to Japan for a three-year tour of duty starting in the beginning of 1969. He was in charge of the 20th Casualty Staging Flight (CSF) (later the Aeromedical Staging Flight (ASF)) at Yokota Air Force Base where casualties from Vietnam were brought. Morgan also was an Ear, Nose & Throat surgeon (E.N.T.) and was in charge of the E.N.T. Clinic at the USAF Hospital at Tachikawa Air Base.
